Weather…

The Tamgaly Petroglyphs, located in an easy on the eye gorge northwest of Almaty, are an extraordinary open-air gallery of prehistoric art. This UNESCO World Heritage site comprises around 5,000 rock carvings dating from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. The images are carved into the dark rock and display a fascinating variety of motifs. Most famous are the depictions of sun-headed deities, which are considered unique in Central Asia. Other carvings show detailed scenes of animal hunts, shamanic rituals, childbirth, and various animals such as horses, deer, and camels. The site served as a sacred place for millennia, where people gathered to perform rituals. A walk through the Tamgaly Gorge is a journey into the distant past, offering a deep insight into the beliefs and daily life of the ancient steppe peoples who once inhabited these lands.
