Jabal Ram stands at 1,734 meters, making it the second highest peak in Jordan and the central landmark of the Wadi Rum desert. It rises sharply from the desert floor, showcasing a massive structure composed of sandstone layered over a granite base. Historically, the mountain is deeply connected to the Nabatean tribes, who left behind ancient inscriptions and sanctuaries in its canyons. T.E. Lawrence, famously known as Lawrence of Arabia, described the mountain's imposing pillars in his accounts of the Arab Revolt. Today, it is a premier destination for rock climbers and mountaineers attracted to its challenging vertical faces and technical routes. The slopes are also home to numerous Thamudic inscriptions, testifying to thousands of years of human activity. The rugged terrain provides a sanctuary for rare wildlife, including the Nubian ibex.
