Kisarazu is located in Chiba Prefecture and is directly connected to the Kawasaki side by the spectacular Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line bridge-tunnel. The city is nationwide famous for 'Shiohigari' (clam digging) in its shallow coastal waters, with prime locations being the Egawa Coast (江川海岸) and the Kuzuma Coast (久津間海岸). Egawa Coast, in particular, has become a hotspot for photographers due to its iconic utility poles standing in the sea, creating a surreal reflection at low tide. A major landmark is the red Nakanoshima Bridge, Japan's tallest pedestrian bridge, which connects the mainland to Nakanoshima Island. Kisarazu is also a shopper's paradise, home to one of the largest Mitsui Outlet Parks in Japan. The city has gained a cult following through pop culture, notably as the setting for the popular drama 'Kisarazu Cat's Eye.' Local cuisine highlights the bounty of Tokyo Bay, with grilled clams (asari) being the must-try specialty. The city gives a unique blend of modern engineering marvels, nostalgic fishing traditions, and expansive leisure facilities, making it a popular weekend getaway from Tokyo.
