Port of Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire)

Weather…

The Port of Abidjan, often referred to as the 'lung of the Ivorian economy,' is one of the most significant deep-water ports in West Africa. Its history took a decisive turn in 1950 with the opening of the Vridi Canal, which connected the Ébrié Lagoon to the Gulf of Guinea, allowing large vessels access. Today, the port facility covers over 800 hectares and handles more than 20 million tons of cargo annually. It serves not only Ivory Coast but is also a vital transit hub for landlocked nations like Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. The inauguration of a second container terminal in 2022 has massively increased capacity, cementing Abidjan's position as a leading regional logistics center.
