Vatican City (Italy)

Weather…

Vatican City is an independent city-state and enclave within Rome, Italy. With an area of approximately 44 hectares (110 acres), it is the smallest sovereign state in the world in terms of both area and population. It was established in 1929 via the Lateran Treaty between the Holy See and Italy, making it a distinct entity from Rome. The state is governed by the Pope, who is the Bishop of Rome and the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Within its walls are some of the world's most famous art and architecture, including St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's ceiling, and the Vatican Museums, which attract millions of visitors per year. Despite being the smallest state, Vatican City maintains diplomatic relations with over 180 countries and issues its own postage stamps and coins. The Swiss Guard, recognizable by their colourful Renaissance-era uniforms, have been responsible for the safety of the Pope since 1506.
