Farnesina is part of Rome's Della Vittoria quarter, north of the Vatican, and is characterized by its 20th-century architecture. Its most prominent landmark is the Palazzo della Farnesina, a massive rationalist building that houses the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This area is also the heart of Italian sports, home to the Foro Italico complex which includes the Stadio Olimpico, home stadium for football clubs A.S. Roma and S.S. Lazio, and the Stadio dei Marmi, famously adorned with 60 statues of athletes. The district is defined by its wide avenues and proximity to the Tiber River and the large Monte Mario park, offering great views over the city. While not a traditional tourist hub for ancient ruins, its modern, monumental architecture provides a different perspective on Rome. The area is well-connected by bus to the city center. It's a spirited area, especially on match days, and is best visited by those interested in modern history, architecture, and sports.
