💡 Tips
- La Cinta beach gets extraordinarily crowded by mid-morning; walk at least 15 minutes north along the shore to find a quieter spot.
- Use the seasonal Beach Bus to visit Lu Impostu or Cala Brandinchi; it saves the hassle and the very high cost of parking.
- Visit the lagoon (Stagno di San Teodoro) just before sunset for the best chance to photograph the pink flamingos.
- The town center becomes a pedestrian-only zone with a lively night market in the summer; plan your driving routes accordingly.
🍽 Food
Traditional Sardinian suckling pig roasted on a spit; best experienced at an inland 'agriturismo' in the hills behind the town.
A large fried pastry filled with soft cheese and drenched in honey, the well-suited dessert at any local Sardinian restaurant.
Sardinian bead-like pasta served with local clams in a savory broth, a specialty at seafood restaurants near the center.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Browse the bustling summer night market in the historic center for authentic Sardinian ceramics and handmade jewelry.
Buy a wedge of authentic, aged sheep's milk cheese from the specialized delicatessens (salumerie) along the main streets.
Hike into the wild hinterland behind the town to discover refreshing natural pools and quiet waterfalls hidden in the forest.
Take a peaceful guided walk around the lagoon paths in the early morning to watch the local birdlife undisturbed.
Water temperature…
The coastal town of San Teodoro sits on the northeastern shore of Sardinia, 25 kilometers south of Olbia. Originally a small fishing and farming settlement, it developed into a major summer destination due to its shallow bays and white sand. To the east of the town center lies the San Teodoro Lagoon, a large brackish water area where pink flamingos and other migratory birds gather. This wetland is protected and provides walking trails along the water edge. The town's architecture features low-rise, Mediterranean-style buildings centered around a spirited main square that hosts evening markets during the summer months. The coastline is defined by the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara. "Cala Brandinchi" and "Spiaggia Lu Impostu" are known for their fine sand and exceptionally shallow waters, extending far from the shore. Further north, visitors find "Spiaggia delle Farfalle", "Cala Girgolu", and "Spiaggia Salinedda". These beaches are backed by Mediterranean maquis and offer views of the Tavolara island limestone massif.
