Bosa (Italy)

Weather…

Bosa is one of Sardinia's most photogenic towns, located on the west coast, about 45 kilometers south of Alghero. It is the only town on the island situated on a navigable river, the Temo. The cityscape is defined by the pastel-colored houses of the Sa Costa district, terracing up the hill where the Malaspina Castle, dating back to 1112, sits. A walk through the narrow, cobbled streets provides a glimpse into traditional Sardinian life. The town has a long history of leather tanning, evidenced by the old tanneries on the riverbank, now protected as industrial monuments. Bosa is also famous for its Malvasia wine, a noble dessert wine available for tasting in local cellars. Culinarically, the town features excellent seafood, especially Bosa-style lobster, as well as handmade lace and filigree jewelry. The nearby beach, Bosa Marina, features a wide bay with darker sand and calm waters, well-suited for families. For nature lovers, the surroundings offer spectacular cliffs and the chance to spot griffon vultures in the mountains. The best way to reach it is via Alghero airport, followed by a scenic drive along the rugged coastal road. Bosa maintains a very authentic and relaxed atmosphere despite tourism.
