Polylimnio Waterfalls (Greece)

Weather…

The Polylimnio Waterfalls are located in the Messenia region of the Peloponnese, near the village of Charavgi. The name 'Polylimnio' literally translates to 'many lakes,' perfectly describing this geological formation: a stream descends over limestone terraces, creating a chain of 15 consecutive lakes and waterfalls. The tallest waterfall, known as Kadi, drops approximately 25 meters into an emerald-green basin that is a popular swimming spot during the summer months. The gorge is surrounded by lush, jungle-like vegetation, providing a sharp contrast to the otherwise arid landscape of southern Greece. Geologically, the area was shaped by erosion and limestone deposits that formed natural barriers and steps. A hiking trail equipped with wooden bridges and safety ropes winds through the gorge, allowing access to the various levels. For a long time, the area remained a hidden local secret and has only recently emerged as a significant destination for nature enthusiasts.
