Donousa Town, also known as Stavros, is the main settlement and port of the island of Donousa, belonging to the Small Cyclades group. The village is situated in a sheltered bay on the southwestern part of the island and is characterized by its quiet, authentic atmosphere. The architecture is typically Cycladic, featuring whitewashed buildings with blue accents clustered around the harbor and the adjacent sandy beach. Historically, the island remained uninhabited for long periods until it was resettled in the 19th century by shepherds from Amorgos. Stavros today serves as the economic hub of the island, housing most of the tourist facilities, cafes, and local shops. Geographically, the town is the starting point for hiking trails that lead to remote coves and mountain villages on the island. The town has preserved its original character, offering a peaceful alternative to the busier neighboring islands in the region.
