Oduponkpehe, now far better known as Kasoa, is one of the fastest-growing cities in West Africa, located in the Central Region of Ghana, right on the border with the Greater Accra Region. Originally a small farming village of the Awutu ethnic group, the settlement has transformed through rapid urbanization into a giant commercial and residential hub. The Kasoa Market is one of the largest open-air markets in the country, serving as a central clearinghouse for agricultural products and consumer goods. Historically, Oduponkpehe was a significant resting place on the trade route between Accra and Winneba. The modern city is characterized by enormous ethnic diversity, as people from all over Ghana migrate here to benefit from its economic dynamism. Despite the challenges of rapid growth, the city remains a symbol of Ghanaian entrepreneurial spirit. Major infrastructure projects, such as the construction of highway interchanges, have significantly improved connectivity to the capital, Accra.
