Warstein is a city in the Sauerland region that has gained international fame through its export of premium beer and its massive limestone resources. Since 1753, the Warsteiner Brewery has been a cornerstone of the local economy, evolving into one of the most successful private brewing operations in the world. The city’s landscape is dramatically shaped by its industry, featuring expansive limestone quarries that supply much of Germany’s construction needs. Situated in the pretty Arnsberg Forest Nature Park, Warstein serves as a gateway to the great outdoors, with the Bilstein Cave and its surrounding wildlife park being a highlight for nature enthusiasts. Every September, the city skies are filled with hundreds of colorful balloons during the Warsteiner International Montgolfiade, Europe's largest hot air balloon festival. The various districts, such as historic Belecke, maintain deep Westphalian roots through traditional festivals and local customs. Warstein features a unique mix of high-tech industry and pristine forest landscapes, making it a key destination in central Germany.
