Wilhelmshaven (Germany)

Weather…

Wilhelmshaven is home to Germany's only deep-water container terminal, the JadeWeserPort, which commenced operations in 2012. The port benefits from a fairway depth of 18 metres, allowing even the world's largest container vessels to dock fully loaded, independent of the tides. Historically, the city was planned and built in the mid-19th century as a Prussian naval base, which remains Wilhelmshaven's legacy today as the largest site of the German Navy. In addition to modern container handling, the port plays a central role in Germany's energy supply, particularly through the import of crude oil and, more recently, as a location for LNG terminals. Connections to the hinterland are provided by efficient rail and motorway networks, making the port a strategic logistics hub on the North Sea.
