Summer wine festival in Walldorf with wine stalls, live music and culinary offerings, usually held in July.
Mörfelden-Walldorf is located in the heart of the Rhine-Main region, just a few kilometers from Frankfurt Airport, and provides a surprisingly green contrast to the urban bustle of the area. The twin town has a fascinating history: while Mörfelden was first mentioned in documents in the 9th century, Walldorf was founded by French Waldensian refugees who settled here in 1699. These historical roots can still be felt today in the Waldenserhof and the straight, checkerboard-like streets of the old Walldorf center. Nature lovers particularly appreciate the nearby Mönchbruch nature reserve. This extensive wetland, with its meadows, forests, and small watercourses, is a valuable refuge for rare bird species and amphibians. Visitors can hike or cycle for hours on well-maintained paths without feeling the noise of the nearby large city. In summer, the idyllically situated Walldorf bathing lake invites you to cool off. Local festivals, such as the historic Waldensian festival, keep the community's special traditions and cultural heritage alive, giving the town a very unique local identity.
