Originally founded as the 'Schwedt Crude Oil Processing Works,' the facility now processes up to 12 million tons of crude oil annually. The refinery has historically been connected directly to eastern oil fields via the Druzhba pipeline and provides a majority of the jet fuel for Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) as well as fuel for almost all gas stations in the Berlin metropolitan area.
