Located in the heart of Middle Franconia, Neustadt an der Aisch serves as the lively urban center of the pretty Aischgrund region. The area is nationally renowned for the Aischgründer Karpfen (Aischgrund carp), a culinary specialty that visitors should definitely taste in traditional local inns during the months containing the letter "R". The historic old town is largely encircled by a well-preserved medieval city wall, complete with defensive towers and the striking Nuremberg Gate. In the center, the magnificent Old Town Hall catches everyone's eye with its elaborate sundial and the mechanical billy goat glockenspiel, which playfully tells a pleasant little story every day. For history buffs, the Aischgrund Carp Museum and the Margrave Museum (Markgrafenmuseum) provide deep insights into the local culture, heritage, and regional traditions. The surrounding landscape, characterized by extensive networks of ponds, lush meadows, and dense forests, makes the town an excellent starting point for long cycling tours along the Aischtal Cycle Path.
