Lauingen on the Danube is a former ducal residence town of the Dukes of Palatinate-Neuburg, with around 11,000 inhabitants, located in the Dillingen district of Bavarian Swabia. The town looks back on more than 1000 years of history and is known as the birthplace of Albertus Magnus (c. 1200), one of the most influential theologians and natural scientists of the Middle Ages. The historic center features Renaissance and Baroque buildings, a historical town hall, and narrow lanes that still trace the medieval street plan.
