Günzburg, located in the Bavarian region of Swabia, is a city with a unique historical identity as a long-standing Austrian exclave. For over five centuries, it served as a capital for Further Austria under the Habsburgs, a heritage still visible in the majestic Margrave's Castle and the impressive Frauenkirche, a baroque masterpiece. The old town is perched on a ridge overlooking the Danube, featuring a large, spirited market square surrounded by traditional facades. In 2002, the city achieved global fame with the opening of Legoland Deutschland Resort, which has since become a major economic engine and tourism magnet. Beyond Lego, Günzburg is a thriving district capital with a diverse industrial base and excellent transport links between Munich and Stuttgart. The city provides a great blend of high-culture history and family-oriented modern attractions, all set within the beautiful river landscapes of the Danube and Günz valleys.
