Kitzingen am Main is one of the oldest cities in Lower Franconia, with a history spanning over 1,300 years deeply rooted in viticulture. Located in the fertile Main Triangle, the city evolved in the Middle Ages into a primary hub for the Franconian wine trade. Its most famous landmark is the Falterturm, a tower with a distinctively leaning spire that once belonged to the city's formidable fortifications. The old town features elegant Baroque noble estates and a magnificent Renaissance Town Hall. A highlight is the Old Main Bridge, which connects the historic center with the Etwashausen district. For decades, Kitzingen was also characterized by a significant US Army presence, lending the city an international flair. Today, it is a modern regional center that harmoniously blends its rich heritage with progress, serving as a popular destination for wine enthusiasts exploring the surrounding vineyard slopes.
