Wildberg is an idyllic small town in the Calw district, spectacularly perched above a bend in the Nagold river in the Northern Black Forest. The historic old town is built in terraces on a narrow mountain ridge, giving Wildberg a unique and scenic skyline. Founded in the 13th century by the Counts Palatine of Tübingen, the town's history is still visible in the ruins of its former castle. In the valley below lies the former Dominican nunnery Maria Reuthin, which now serves as a cultural hub and houses a local museum. Wildberg is widely known for the 'Schäferlauf' (Shepherd's Race), a traditional festival held every two years that is part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Today, the town's economy is driven by medium-sized manufacturing and tourism. The surrounding area provides fantastic conditions for hikers and cyclists, especially along the popular Nagold Valley Cycle Path.
