Holzgerlingen is situated on the so-called Schönbuch plateau in the heart of Baden-Württemberg. The town has evolved from a formerly agricultural village into a modern industrial hub without losing its characterful character. Geographically, Holzgerlingen benefits from its location on the edge of the Schönbuch Nature Park, a vast forested area that serves as a prime recreation destination for the entire Stuttgart region. Historically, the town is closely linked to Kalteneck Castle, a 16th-century moated castle that now hosts various cultural events. The town is also a significant transport hub: the Schönbuchbahn railway efficiently connects Holzgerlingen with the neighboring industrial centers of Böblingen and Sindelfingen, homes to global corporations like Mercedes-Benz. Holzgerlingen itself features a large industrial estate that attracts many medium-sized enterprises. Despite its economic growth, great emphasis is placed on the quality of life, reflected in its numerous recreational facilities and active community life.
