Leutkirch im Allgäu is a historic town in southeastern Baden-Württemberg that perfectly blends its heritage as a Free Imperial City with the striking landscapes of the Alpine foothills. For over 500 years, Leutkirch enjoyed direct imperial protection, a status that allowed it to flourish as a center of trade and craft. Today, the town center is marked by impressive structures like the Baroque town hall and the 'Gotisches Haus'. The glassmaking tradition remains a key part of its cultural identity, preserved in the historical glassmaking village of Schmidsfelden. Geographically, the area is characterized by rolling hills, lush meadows, and its proximity to the Alps, making it a paradise for hikers and cyclists. In recent years, Leutkirch has gained international fame for the Center Parcs Park Allgäu, one of the region's largest holiday destinations, while also being a pioneer in sustainable energy and solar technology.
