Bad Wurzach is a distinguished spa town in Upper Swabia, widely recognized for its long tradition in peat mud therapy and its proximity to an extraordinary natural wonder. The town borders the 'Wurzacher Ried', the largest contiguous and largely intact raised bog in Central Europe. This nature reserve is a vital habitat for rare flora and fauna and has been honored with the European Diploma for Protected Areas. Bad Wurzach established its reputation as a health resort in 1936, becoming the first state-recognized moor mud spa in Baden-Württemberg. Architecturally, the town is graced by the Bad Wurzach Palace, once the seat of the Princes of Waldburg-Zeil-Wurzach. The palace's Baroque staircase is a masterpiece of European architecture, renowned for its elegance and light. As a key stop on the Upper Swabian Baroque Route, the town gives a rich cultural experience. Economically, beyond the healthcare sector, Bad Wurzach has a strong industrial base in glass manufacturing, dating back to 1846. Today, visitors are drawn to the Feelmoor thermal baths, the historical 'Torfbähnle' (peat railway), and the extensive network of cycling and hiking paths that showcase the unique landscape of the Alpine foothills.
