💡 Tips

  • Rent a bike, preferably an electric one, to explore the island effortlessly. It's best to book it online in advance to ensure availability.
  • If driving to the La Tour Fondue ferry terminal, arrive before 9 AM as parking spots fill up very quickly in the summer.
  • The beaches (except for Plage d'Argent) have no restaurants. Pack a picnic and plenty of water, especially if you're heading to more remote spots like Notre-Dame beach.
  • Smoking is strictly forbidden outside the village to prevent forest fires. Adhere to this rule to avoid heavy fines.

🍽 Food

🍽
Local Rosé Wine

Try a glass of crisp rosé from one of the island's own vineyards, like Domaine de l'Ile. A well-suited drink after a bike ride.

🍽
Pan Bagnat

Buy this classic Niçoise sandwich from one of the village bakeries. It's a full, satisfying loaf filled with tuna, vegetables, and olive oil, good for a beach picnic.

🍽
Tarte Tropézienne

Although it hails from nearby Saint-Tropez, you'll find this delicious cream-filled brioche in the island's bakeries. A sweet afternoon treat.

Atelier du Revest

A workshop-boutique where you can find locally made ceramics and crafts inspired by the island's landscapes. Look for unique souvenirs.

🧘
Fort Sainte Agathe

Climb up to the fort for the best panoramic views of the island and the bay. It's a quiet spot, especially in the late afternoon.

🧘
Notre-Dame Beach

Although famous, this long stretch of beach is often quieter than others due to its distance from the village. Go early in the morning for absolute tranquility.

🧘

Experience contemporary art barefoot in this serene villa and garden. A unique and peaceful cultural stop.

Porquerolles is a Mediterranean paradise located just off the coast of Hyères. The island is shaped like a crescent, with the northern side featuring some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Europe, such as Notre-Dame and La Courtade, known for their crystal-clear turquoise waters and pine-fringed shores. The southern side is more rugged, with steep cliffs and hidden coves. As a protected site within the Port-Cros National Park, cars are prohibited, making bicycles the primary mode of transport along its dusty trails. The center of the island is home to extensive vineyards that produce excellent Côtes de Provence Rosé, as well as a botanical conservatory. The pleasant main village, built by the military in the 19th century, features a large square where locals play pétanque under the eucalyptus trees. Visitors can also explore Fort Sainte-Agathe for history and views. The island is reached by a short ferry ride from the Giens Peninsula.
