Carqueiranne is a photogenic coastal town on the French Riviera, ideally positioned between the bustling city of Toulon and the ancient town of Hyères. Known for its exceptional microclimate, it has been a center of French floriculture since the late 1800s, specialized in the production of high-quality tulips and anemones. The town's layout follows the natural curve of the bay, leading down to the characterful port of Les Salettes, where traditional fishing boats called 'pointus' sit alongside modern pleasure crafts. Historically, Carqueiranne was a simple fishing hamlet that grew into a prosperous agricultural and tourist destination. Its landscape is characterized by the forested slopes of the Colle Noire massif and a coastline alternating between rocky coves and fine sandy beaches. One of its architectural highlights is the Fort de la Bayarde, an 18th-century fortification that now serves as an open-air theater with impressive sea views. Carqueiranne is prized for its authentic Mediterranean atmosphere, offering a more tranquil alternative to the crowded resorts further east on the Côte d'Azur.
