Boé is a multifaceted municipality in southwestern France, located in the Lot-et-Garonne department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Geographically, it stretches along the left bank of the Garonne river and is a key component of the Agen urban area. The town is characterized by a distinct duality: 'Boé-Village' retains the historic charm of a riverside village with its 12th-century Romanesque church of Saint-Sulpice, while 'Boé-Cités' represents a modern urban expansion with large residential districts and commercial zones. Historically, Boé's economy was tied to river trade and agriculture on the fertile alluvial plains. In the 20th century, it underwent rapid transformation, becoming a regional economic powerhouse by hosting major retail centers and logistics hubs. Despite this urbanization, the town remains committed to preserving its natural environment, particularly along the riverbanks which offer scenic walking and cycling paths. Its location along the A62 motorway makes Boé a strategic link between Bordeaux and Toulouse, attracting both business investment and new residents.
