Le Vésinet is a unique and prestigious residential commune in the Yvelines department, located in a loop of the River Seine west of Paris. It was established in the mid-19th century as France's first planned garden city, built on the site of a former royal hunting forest. The design, envisioned by entrepreneur Alphonse Pallu and landscape architect Count de Choulot, aimed to create a 'park-city' where nature remains the dominant feature. The layout includes thirty hectares of public lawns, five man-made lakes, and several kilometers of artificial rivers and canals that weave through the town. This verdant setting is home to an extraordinary collection of high-end villas representing various architectural movements, from romantic 19th-century mansions to elegant Art Deco residences. Most of the town is classified as a protected heritage site to preserve its historical aesthetic. Economically, Le Vésinet is almost exclusively residential, housing an affluent population that enjoys a high quality of life with quick RER access to Paris.
