Choisy-le-Roi is a historically rich city in the Val-de-Marne department, situated southeast of Paris along the banks of the Seine. Its royal title, 'le Roi,' dates back to the reign of King Louis XV, who chose the site for a magnificent château as an alternative to Versailles. Although the main palace was demolished following the French Revolution, the town's layout and several remaining structures still reflect its regal past. During the industrial era, Choisy-le-Roi became a major hub for porcelain, ceramics, and glass production, earning a reputation for high-quality craftsmanship. The city is also famously the place where Rouget de Lisle, the composer of 'La Marseillaise,' spent his final years and passed away. Modern Choisy-le-Roi is characterized by its dynamic urban revitalization, with the riverfront areas being transformed into scenic walkways and parks. Its strategic location makes it a vital transport hub, served by RER lines C and D, as well as the T9 tramway, providing excellent connectivity to the heart of the capital.
