Faverges-Seythenex is a merged commune created in 2016, located in the Haute-Savoie department at the southern tip of Lake Annecy. Its name reflects its ancient history as a center of metalworking, derived from the Latin word 'fabrica' (factories). Over the centuries, it transitioned from ironmongery to silk production in the 19th century, and eventually to high-tech manufacturing, hosting world-renowned brands like Stäubli and S.T. Dupont. Geographically, the town is located in a spectacular glacial valley between the Bauges and Bornes mountain ranges. It is home to significant natural wonders, such as the Seythenex cave and waterfall, and provides a base for the La Sambuy ski resort. The town's historical skyline is dominated by the medieval Château de Faverges with its distinctive round tower. Today, Faverges-Seythenex is a lively Alpine hub that balances a strong industrial economy with outdoor tourism, offering year-round activities ranging from paragliding and cycling to traditional Savoyard gastronomy and hiking in the regional natural park.
