The Horizon Djibouti Terminals Limited (HDTL) is a major oil terminal located within the port area of Djibouti. It was established in 2005 as a joint venture between the Government of Djibouti and the UAE-based Horizon Terminals Ltd. The terminal is strategically located to serve the maritime traffic in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, functioning as a vital hub for the storage, blending, and bunkering of petroleum products. It has a substantial storage capacity of over 370,000 cubic meters for various products, including gasoline, jet fuel, gas oil, and fuel oil. The terminal provides a range of services, including ship bunkering, inter-tank transfers, and the handling of products between vessels and trucks. Its facilities can accommodate tankers up to LR2 size. HDTL plays a critical role in supplying the local market and is vital for providing fuel to Ethiopia. The facility has strengthened Djibouti's position as a major regional player in the downstream petroleum sector and contributes significantly to the nation's economy.
