At 131 meters, Frøbjerg Bavnehøj is the highest point on the Danish island of Funen. This prominent hill was formed at the end of the last ice age as part of a terminal moraine landscape created by debris deposited by retreating glaciers. Historically, the summit served as one of the island's most important signal hills (Bavnehøj), where beacon fires were lit in times of danger to warn the populace. Since the late 19th century, the area has evolved into a venue for public assemblies and commemorations. In 1946, a significant memorial park was established here to honor the victims of the Danish resistance movement during World War II. From the top, visitors can enjoy a wide panoramic view over the hilly landscape of West Funen extending to the Little Belt. The geological structure consists mainly of glacial till, which provides the foundation for the surrounding fertile soils.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun–Aug.
