ARoS Aarhus Art Museum (Denmark)

Weather…

The ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is one of the largest art museums in Northern Europe and a defining architectural landmark of Aarhus. The current building was designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen architects and opened in 2004, though the museum's history dates back to 1859. Its most famous feature is "Your rainbow panorama," a permanent installation by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson completed in 2011. This 150-meter-long circular glass walkway on the roof glows in the colors of the rainbow and provides a remarkable 360-degree view of the city. The building's interior architecture is inspired by Dante's "Divine Comedy," with floors representing the journey from hell to heaven. A centerpiece of the permanent collection is the monumental sculpture "Boy" by Ron Mueck, which stands nearly five meters tall and is renowned for its hyper-realistic detail. Across ten floors, ARoS showcases a diverse range of works, from the Danish Golden Age to cutting-edge international installation art. The museum also functions as an educational hub, offering numerous workshops and creative spaces for visitors of all ages.
