Nova Vas is located just 6 kilometers northeast of Poreč and is a typical Istrian village surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The most significant attraction of the place is Jama Baredine, a limestone cave famous for its bizarre stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the rare olm (human fish). Right next to the cave is an interesting exhibition of historic tractors. The village architecture is characterized by light Istrian limestone houses and the 16th-century Parish Church of Saint Roch. Nova Vas is situated on the 'Poreč Wine Road,' allowing visits to numerous private wine cellars where local Malvazija and Teran can be tasted. The surroundings are great for extensive bike tours, as the terrain is gently hilly and leads through shady forests. The proximity to the coast makes Nova Vas a well-suited location for vacationers who prefer the peace of the hinterland but want to reach the beaches of Poreč in a few minutes. Local gastronomy provides traditional Istrian pasta (Fuži) and dishes with truffles.
