Water temperature…
Nečujam is located in the largest bay of the island of Šolta, which actually consists of eight smaller coves (Piškera, Maslinica, Podkamenica, etc.). Its name derives from the Latin 'vallissurda', meaning 'deaf bay', as it is so sheltered that external sounds hardly penetrate. Even Roman Emperor Diocletian valued this location, commissioning a fishpond in Piškera cove, the remains of which are still visible beneath the water. In the Middle Ages, famous Croatian poets like Marko Marulić and Petar Hektorović visited Nečujam to find inspiration in its silence. Today, it is a modern tourist center with holiday apartments, small shops, and a large pebble beach. The bay is a favorite anchorage for sailing yachts traveling from Split to the southern islands. The surrounding area features dense pine forests that reach down to the sea, providing natural shade. There are no large nightclubs, making Nečujam a great destination for a relaxed family holiday. Šolta is accessible by ferry from Split to Rogač, with regular bus connections to Nečujam.
