Ljuta is located in the southernmost part of Croatia, in the fertile Konavle valley near Dubrovnik. The village is named after the Ljuta River, which springs from the rocks here and flows through a lush, green landscape. The highlight of the settlement is its historic watermills and stamp mills, which were once vital for flour production and textile manufacturing in the entire Dubrovnik region. Some of these mills have been restored and can be visited today to understand traditional craftsmanship. The atmosphere in Ljuta is refreshingly cool, even in high summer, thanks to the running water and dense tree cover. Several excellent restaurants are located right by the river, famous for their trout dishes and lamb prepared under the Peka. The Konavle region is also renowned for its viticulture, particularly the Malvasija Dubrovačka variety. From Ljuta, one can easily explore the pretty villages of the valley and the spectacular Konavle cliffs. Dubrovnik Airport is only about 15 minutes away, making this village an easily accessible gem for nature and food lovers.
