The Kuterevo Bear Sanctuary was established in 2002 in the Lika region to provide a permanent home for orphaned brown bears. Located on the slopes of the Velebit mountain range, the center is managed almost exclusively by international volunteers dedicated to animal rehabilitation. The facility focuses on bear cubs that have lost their mothers and would be unable to survive independently in the wild. Always keep distance from enclosures and do not throw objects inside. Feeding is strictly forbidden, and loud noises must be avoided.
