Kompolje is located in the heart of Lika, in the fertile valley of the Gacka River, near the town of Otočac. The settlement is known for its rich tradition in beekeeping and dairy farming; visitors can buy top-quality honey and the famous Lika cheese directly from producers. The village's landmark is the baroque parish Church of Saint Stephen (Sveti Stjepan). The surroundings are a paradise for nature lovers and anglers, as the Gacka River is world-renowned for its trout.
