Kringa is located in the heart of Istria, on a hill above the Draga valley, in the municipality of Tinjan. The village is a prime example of Central Istrian medieval architecture with its stone houses, narrow streets, and the prominent Church of Saints Peter and Paul. However, Kringa has a dark and fascinating side: it is the home of Jure Grando, who, according to 17th-century records, haunted the village as a vampire for 16 years after his death. This legend now attracts mystery fans from all over the world who visit the village and the vampire-themed trail. Aside from vampire legends, Kringa has beautiful nature and first-class gastronomy. The region around Tinjan is famous for Istrian ham (Pršut), to which a large festival is dedicated annually. In Kringa, visitors can taste this in local konobas along with homemade pasta like Fuži and excellent regional wines. The surroundings are handy for hiking and cycling through oak forests and along dry stone walls, which are part of UNESCO World Heritage. The village radiates a deep sense of peace and serenity. From the village promenade, there is a magnificent view over the valley. Kringa is the excellent place for travelers who want to combine the mystical with the culinary. The preservation of old traditions is paramount here, felt at local festivals and in the warm nature of the inhabitants. It is a place where legends and reality blend in a welcoming way. A visit to Kringa is guaranteed to be memorable.
