Gizdavac is located in the Zagora region, just 25 kilometers north of the spirited coastal city of Split. It is a typical village of the Dalmatian hinterland, where life moves at a slower pace. The landscape is characterized by karst formations, small fertile fields, and dry-stone walls that have marked property boundaries for centuries. The residents of Gizdavac are traditionally dedicated to livestock farming and the cultivation of local vegetables and fruits. For tourists, the village provides a glimpse into real, unadulterated Dalmatia, far from yachts and beach bars. It is a well-suited starting point for hikes in the Mosor mountain range or visits to the nearby Klis Fortress, world-famous as a filming location for 'Game of Thrones'. In recent years, several old stone houses have been repurposed as holiday homes with pools, offering visitors modern comfort amidst a rugged, natural environment. Local gastronomy is based on simple but high-quality ingredients like lamb under the bell (peka) and local wine. Gizdavac is easily accessible via the A1 highway or the old state road from Split.
