Brnaze is a significant suburb of the town of Sinj, located at a major crossroads in Central Dalmatia. The settlement is deeply rooted in the history of the Sinj Field and played a vital role in the defense against the Ottomans in 1715. Today, Brnaze is known for its strong community that diligently preserves the old customs and traditions of the region. The residents of Brnaze have a long-standing tradition of horse breeding. Many of the riders (Alkari) who compete in the prestigious Sinjska Alka tournament hail from this village. The wide plains surrounding the settlement provide first-rate conditions for training and keeping these noble animals. Visitors can often see horses grazing in the fields, lending the area a unique rural charm. Brnaze also hosts significant archaeological sites dating back to the Roman era. The local Church of Saint Nikola Tavelić is a modern building that serves as the spiritual center for the growing population. Culinary-wise, Brnaze features hearty dishes typical of the Dalmatian hinterland, such as meat prepared under the 'peka' (iron bell) and the famous Sinj arambaši. With its proximity to Sinj and easy access to Split, Brnaze is both a popular residential area and an interesting spot for day trips. The surrounding environment is great for walks along the Sinj Field, offering beautiful views of the nearby mountains. It is a place where contemporary life and honored traditions coexist harmoniously.
