Valle Nevado
Valle Nevado was opened in 1988, designed by French developers to mimic the style of European Alpine resorts. It has the highest base elevation in Chile, ensuring consistent snow quality from June to October. The resort encompasses 40 kilometers of groomed pistes and extensive off-piste terrain targeted at advanced skiers. Beyond traditional skiing and snowboarding, the facility is known for accessible heli-skiing operations directly from the hotel bases. The resort consists of purpose-built, multi-story accommodation blocks rather than a traditional village, keeping all services concentrated in one area. During the summer months, the chairlifts operate for mountain bikers and high-altitude trekkers. The site is located 46 kilometers east of Santiago via a winding mountain road with exactly 60 hairpin turns. International ski teams frequently use the slopes for northern hemisphere summer training. The high altitude of over 3,000 meters requires visitors to adapt to lower oxygen levels upon arrival.
