Cobquecura is located 100 kilometers from Chillán in the Ñuble Region. The village was officially declared a protected Typical Zone in 2005, characterized by its historical slate stone and adobe architecture. The Iglesia de San José serves as the central architectural focal point of the town square. The primary natural attraction is the Lobería de Cobquecura, a massive offshore rock formation situated just meters from the main beach. This protected sanctuary is inhabited by thousands of South American sea lions that rest on the rocks. Surrounding agricultural farms cultivate regional produce, including local papayas and lentils. The expansive waves at nearby Buchupureo beach attract professional and amateur surfers during the summer season. Minibuses provide regular transport from the city of Chillán.
