💡 Tips
- The best time to visit the Lobé Waterfalls is late afternoon when the light beautifully hits the cascading water over the ocean.
- Negotiate taxi fares before getting in; shared taxis are the cheapest way to navigate between the town center and the beaches.
- Keep small XAF notes handy for purchasing fresh fruit and snacks directly from vendors on the beach.
- If swimming at Tara Plage or Grand Batanga, be mindful of strong ocean currents depending on the tide.

Kribi lies on the Atlantic coast in the South Region and is considered Cameroon's most popular beach destination. Home to around 80 000 inhabitants, the town stretches along fine white-sand beaches lined with coconut palms and tropical forest. The Lobé Falls are famous for plunging spectacularly straight into the Atlantic Ocean, a rare geographical feature in Africa. Economically, Kribi has been booming since the 2014 opening of its deep-sea port, which handles containers, timber, bauxite from Mini-Martap and iron ore from Mbalam, and is regarded as a future central hub for Central Africa. Other tourist draws include the Bagyeli Pygmy village, beach resorts and offshore fishing. The population is predominantly Batanga, Mabea and Bagyeli. The humid tropical climate with year-round warmth favours tourism and plantation farming.
