Ahsan Manzil (Bangladesh)

Weather…

Ahsan Manzil, often referred to as the 'Pink Palace', is the former official residential palace and seat of the Nawab of Dhaka. Situated on the banks of the Buriganga River, it is a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture in Bangladesh. The construction of the palace took place from 1859 to 1872 and was initiated by Nawab Abdul Ghani, who named it after his son, Ahsanullah. The building features a prominent high dome, visible from miles away, and a grand staircase leading down to the riverfront. Over the years, the palace witnessed numerous political events during the British colonial period. After significant damage from a tornado in 1888, it underwent extensive renovation and achieved its current appearance. In 1985, the government of Bangladesh took over the property and converted it into a national museum. Today, it stands as one of the most visited landmarks in Dhaka and a symbol of the city's past glory.
