Andulo is a town in the northern part of Bié Province, Angola, situated on a high plateau at an elevation of approximately 1550 meters. The town has a complex history and held significant strategic importance for both sides during the decades-long Angolan Civil War. Since the peace agreement in 2002, Andulo has undergone extensive modernization and has emerged as a flourishing agricultural hub. The fertile surrounding lands support a high output of cereals, legumes, and coffee, which form the cornerstone of the local economy. The town is notable for its well-maintained road connections, linking it to the provincial capital, Kuito, and the major port city of Lobito. Architecturally, the town provides an intriguing mix of colonial administrative buildings and modern infrastructure projects, including new hospitals and educational facilities. The local population is predominantly of the Ovimbundu ethnic group, whose traditions and languages define the social fabric of the community. Today, Andulo is regarded as a successful model for rural reconstruction in post-war Angola.
