The Moc Chau tea plantations are situated on a high plateau in Sơn La province, approximately 200 kilometers west of Hanoi, at an average altitude of 1,050 meters above sea level. The cool, temperate climate and fertile soils provide convenient conditions for cultivating high-quality tea varieties such as Oolong and Shan Tuyet. Particularly famous is the hilly area known as Đồi Chè Trái Tim, where tea bushes are planted in the shape of a heart, making it a favorite spot for photographers. The plantations span thousands of hectares, defining the region's undulating green landscape. Harvesting is often still performed manually by local ethnic minorities, such as the Hmong and Thai people living in the area. Besides tea production, the region is known for its dairy industry and, in spring, for the blooming of plum and peach trees. Moc Chau serves as the center of tea culture in Northwestern Vietnam and exports its products globally. The vast fields offer an impressive perspective on the structured agricultural landscape of the highlands.
