Bamburgh Lighthouse
Bamburgh Lighthouse, often referred to as Black Rocks Point Lighthouse, is a charming maritime structure situated on the rugged coastline of Northumberland. Built in 1910 and operated by Trinity House, it holds the distinction of being the most northerly land-based lighthouse in England. Unlike traditional tall, cylindrical lighthouses, Bamburgh features a distinctive white, square tower design. It was established to guide passing shipping safely along the treacherous rocky coast and remains a vital navigational aid today. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the North Sea and the magnificent nearby Bamburgh Castle, the lighthouse offers a highly picturesque setting for coastal walkers and photographers. The surrounding area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and diverse birdlife.
