Jebel Buhais is an outstanding prehistoric archaeological site in the emirate of Sharjah, documenting continuous use over several millennia. The site is primarily known for its extensive graveyard, which includes burials from the Neolithic, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. Archaeological excavations have unearthed over 1,000 human skeletons and a multitude of grave goods, such as jewelry, weapons, and pottery. Particularly significant is the Neolithic graveyard BHS18 (c. 5000 BC), which has insights into the social structures and religious beliefs of nomadic communities. Jebel Buhais also provides evidence of early surgical procedures, such as cranial trepanations. The site is located along a limestone ridge and is now accessible to the public through the Jebel Buhais Geological Park Museum. The scientific investigation of the finds has contributed significantly to a better understanding of the settlement history of the Arabian Peninsula.
