Beğendik is the northernmost coastal village of Turkey in Kırklareli province, located right on the border with Bulgaria. The place features a unique mix of Black Sea breeze and dense Thracian forests. Being far from the typical tourist centers, Beğendik has preserved an original tranquility that is rare to find today. The village itself is small and mainly characterized by agriculture and fishing. Beğendik Plajı is one of the longest and widest sandy beaches in the region. The golden sand stretches for kilometers, offering plenty of space for solitude and relaxation. The sea here is typical for the Black Sea: refreshing and sometimes with gentle waves. Since the beach is natural, there is little commercial infrastructure, which increases the appeal for nature lovers and campers. From some points on the beach, you can even see the Bulgarian side of the border. The surroundings of Beğendik are part of the Longoz forest ecosystem, a rare type of floodplain forest. Visitors can hike here, observe rare bird species, or visit the nearby town of İğneada. The local cuisine features fresh fish from the Black Sea and regional dairy products. The journey leads through pretty forests and hilly landscapes, making the visit a real off-the-beaten-path adventure.
