💡 Tips
- The Tunisian Dinar is a closed currency; you cannot bring it in or take it out, so exchange money locally.
- Haggling is expected in local markets, but always keep negotiations friendly and respectful.
- While beachwear is fine on the sand, dress more modestly when walking into the village or town areas.
- Head to the beach early in the morning for the calmest, clearest turquoise waters before the afternoon breeze picks up.
🍽 Food
A crispy, deep-fried pastry filled with a runny egg and tuna, widely available at small street food stalls.

Enjoy this sweet, refreshing local specialty at any traditional cafe in the area.

Look for beautifully painted local pottery in the nearby shops; they make for authentic home decorations.
Visit the markets to buy locally pressed olive oil and fragrant North African spice blends like Harissa.
Walk along the fine sandy coast at dawn before the resort activities begin.
Step slightly inland from the hotels to find peaceful, shaded trails through ancient olive trees.

Mezraya is located on the idyllic northeast coast of the island of Djerba in Tunisia and is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. The combination of a Mediterranean climate, traditional architecture, and pristine beaches attracts visitors from all over the world. The settlement provides a lively atmosphere and excellent tourist infrastructure. The most famous beach in Mezraya is Sidi Mahrez, which is often considered one of the most beautiful on Djerba. Here, the fine sand gently slopes into the crystal-clear sea. Slightly quieter, but equally photogenic, is the Plage El Hachen (Ras Rmel), also known as "Flamingo Island," which features spectacular views and relaxing swimming. The region is very rich in gastronomic offerings. Numerous restaurants serve fresh fish couscous and other Tunisian specialties. Water sports such as kitesurfing and jet skiing are available everywhere along the coast. Mezraya is easily accessible via the island's main roads and gives the great mix of oriental charm and a modern beach holiday.
